Sunday Funnies

Ever since Mr. Serious has been born, I've been saying he reminds me of someone. It's been bugging me that I can't figure out who it is. Today as he was doing what he does best in the swing, daddy called me over with his iphone in hand saying "you know who he looks like?" and shows me this:

Not exactly who I had in mind but definitely gave me a good laugh.
In case you're wondering, here's what I saw when daddy put the phone next to the munchkin:
I actually think this might be a more accurate comparison (minus the pursed lips) to Sir Churchill:
Okay, but why am I trying so hard to make my child resemble a 70+ year old man, albeit a respected, distinguished old man, anyway???

Note to self: Need. to. get. out. of. the. house...

Don't hate me little guy when you see these one day. It's your mom's desperate (& a tad pathetic) need for some entertainment after being knocked down (quite literally) like a 1-2 punch by a horrid breast infection followed by a breakout in lovely cold sores. From high fevers, aching from head to every toe joint, nausea and fatigue to swollen glands, sore throat, headache and nasty blisters covering my face that make me feel like a leper, it's been a rough couple of days. And for what I've gone through, I think I've earned it.

Simple Pleasures

You know your single days are long gone when the highlight of your day is a trip to Costco for a family night out enjoying sweet, cheap thrills!

Yep, no more splurging at fine dining restaurants. No more movies, dancing or long walks on the beach. Just holding sticky hands and running sneaking into burger joints where you have no intention of spending a dime to get to a bathroom in time. But I wouldn't change a thing.
Except add a few more to the bunch!

A hilariously gross story that must be documented for future embarrassing opportunities. So Spicy and I are having a heart to heart moment while she sits on the throne...
A: I told you mommy I had to go pee pee and poo poo.
M: Yes, sweetheart and I'm so proud of you. You're such a big girl.
Rather long pause...
A: You don't eat it.
M: You don't eat what?
A: Poo poo. You don't eat poo poo and you don't drink pee pee
M: That's right sweetie. How on earth did you learn that without anyone telling you? (slight sarcasm in tone of voice as I'm cracking up)

Later that night as we are she is climbing into bed...
A: Read me 3 books cuz I'm THREE
M: Oh sweetie, I don't know if I can read 3 tonight, mommy is sooo tired.
A: Yes, you can. You are the best teacher
Melt. My. Heart.

You're Funny

As I was sorting through the photos and videos I have uploaded recently, I ran across a short video clip I had forgotten about. As I was viewing it, I started laughing so hard it peaked daddy's curiosity. When I showed it to him, he was belly laughing, harder than I have heard in awhile... He said "you gotta post that!" And so, here it is...

A couple other funnies to document for the family book:

  • A conversation I had with Spicy A:
(pinching Sweet G's leg as I was taking her out of the swing causing some mild crying)
M: I'm so sorry Genevieve. You're okay. Do you forgive me?
(no response, obviously)
(a little bit later after scolding Spicy for pouring water in her pasta thinking assuming she was playing with her food which has become a very recent common occurrence obsession, when in fact, she was cooling it off)
M: I'm sorry Alizea, I thought you were playing but you were just trying to cool off your food weren't you? That's a very good idea. Will you forgive me?
A: Yup and Genevieve forgives you too!

  • Not too surprisingly, A tripped as she was running (because she only knows one speed) and fell pretty good chafing her upper lip pretty good (thank goodness no split lip, broken teeth or stitches). Well, the 'chafeness' very much resembles the infamous stache of the evil dictator of the early 40's. Bapa and daddy have fun calling her Adolf. Silly Guys!
  • Ever since she was a baby, Spicy has used her hair (in addition to her "baca", pacifier, and blanket) to fall asleep. She does so by twirling her hair until it literally knots and mommy often has to cut the knot out later. I've never understood how this is relaxing or soothing because she uses quite a bit of force but the photo is proof that a finger suspended in a tightly twirled rope of hair is indeed, tranquilizing.

Funny Talk

It seems as though every time you spend an extended period of time with Mimi, you come back a more mature, independent and communicative little girl! Some of your latest phrases:

"No, I do it!"
“Davieve (Genevieve) did a humongous poo-poo” (where in the world did she hear that one?)
“Mommy, Mommy, I made a (pause)…..BIG bubble!”
“Good idea mommy/daddy!” (I had no idea she knew the word “idea” let alone be able to use it in context!)
“Good one mommy!” (at my all-star parenting on female proper etiquette…a loud belch)
“Mommy, ehhh ehhh, Robot Two thousand! (compliments of “Wow Wow Wubsy” 1 of her fav cartoons at the moment – you were pretending to hit something on the wall with the huge blow-up carnival hammer)
“Hey, come back here” (talking to the bath toys floating away)
“Mommy I need you pleeeeeeease”
"Oh, Okay!"
A VERY exaggerated W-O-WWWW”
"Scuse me" (when you toot)
"Bless you Davieve"
"I okay mommy, no owie and no blood" (when you fall down)
"it's okay Davieve, no worry" (when sister starts to fuss/cry)
(when daddy is playing with you) "no not the mall, Target!"
And my favorite, courtesy of daddy’s awesome intellectual communicating, “cool!”

And for the baby book records, I want to note how expressive and animated you are at the young age of 31 months. You are so passionate about everything you do, including communicating. We are enamored by your body language  from those cute chubby little hands moving from palms face-up to palms face-down to those expressive eyebrows & eyes to the intonation in your voice. You are one entertaining, funny, joyful, spicy little girl!
